Panajachel, Guatemala

Panajachel is a town in the Southwestern Guatemalan Highlands, and is on the northeast shore of Lake Atitlan. The 2014 Guatemala team began the project, through Porch de Solomon, of building a new home for Elizabeth and her children.
Elizabeth (25) is the youngest of three sisters who all became common law wives to Jeronimo, an indigenous man. He fathered a total of 16 children between them. Jeronimo was killed (and his body burned) by neighborhood vigilantes five years ago following several episodes of theft on his part. Elizabeth and her children live in a tiny adobe house. They have no running water, no electricity, no bathroom, and almost no furniture. They sleep on the dirt floor. Her sister, Manuela, and her children live with Elizabeth’s family. |
House of Hope
Elizabeth's other sister, Candeladia, still needs a home built. Help us raise money to provide for this beautiful family. Candeladia has eight children. All three sisters currently are using Candeladia's adobe home to cook and prepare food for all 16 children. When they cook, the house fills with smoke and makes it difficult to live healthy. Candeladia and her eight children have no beds and sleep on the dirt floor.
